Bossa Nova
Dec 29, 2025 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
Jazz
With Arthur Blanck
All Bossa Nova, all the time. Music from the beginning in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950s and Black Orpheus with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Luis Bonfa, Astrud Gilberto, Baden Powell, Roberto Menescal, Vinicius de Moraes, and Sergio Mendes. Then throw in some later interpretations by Stan Getz, Herbie Mann, Frank Sinatra, John Pizzarelli, Stacey Kent, and many others. Some introductory talk about the history of the music, other musical and historical influences, but let the music speak for itself. I want to share this music with the Bowdoin Community.
Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66, John Pizzarelli, Stacey Kent
